Traffic in Downtown Vallarta is predominantly along north/south streets, with tourist-related retail, restaurants and bars located along the waterfront. Art galleries and several museums are located not far away, with more traditional business scattered throughout the area. The farther away from the water, the more traditional the urban fabric of the community becomes.
