More Reimagined Shipping Containers | New Zealand & USA

PUBLIC ART – DENVER, COLORADO                                                          Two examples of another creative use of shipping containers can be seen in part of Denver’s transitioning industrial area adjacent to the Central Business District. Once strictly a gritting industrial zone that included rail storage yards, large brick warehouses, distribution facilities and other similar types of businesses, the area is being transformed into a redevelopment area that includes not only the reuse of industrial buildings to office, residential, and retail (including the 25th and Larimer project just reviewed), but also new construction of apartments and condominiums. The City commissioned two art pieces made from shipping containers, both of which serve as a “gateway” into the area, visually invoking the historical industrial nature of the area.
