Unique, Customized Letter Opener | The Netherlands

In May, 2014 I posted a blog about two unique pieces of “Functional Art” created by industrial designer Michiel Cornelissen (see Functional Art). Michiel is the brother-in-law of a former co-worker, who has graciously given me several of Michiel’s creative designs.

One of his latest designs is a unique metal letter opener, produced using 3D printing technology! The piece was commissioned by the designer’s brother (a principle in a products liability and materials forensics company), who will give the metal opener to the company’s clients as a unique Christmas present. The company’s logo is embossed on the end of the letter opener.

  2. Hello my dear friend! I hope that you haven’t forgotten me. 😦 I apologise for my non communicating with you. I was very busy. And I am glad that I have finished the first semester successfully 😉 I have written a new article in Russian language today. I promised to my readers that I will have written 3-6 articles for nine days. I have a student holiday 🙂 I am planning to translate your articles into russian language. You would tell me some of them which i can publish :)By the way I am going to monetize my blog. I will be trying to write perfect articles and to get money for it because it’s common knowledge that student’s almost haven’t got money.

    How do you do? How do you feel yourself? What about your health? The student of Polotsk State University ;

    • I am sorry too that I have not kept up with you. I have been busy with other things here, so I have neglected my blog posting. I will try to get back on again soon since I have several posts that I need to complete. Keep me posted on your Paris trip – I hope that our paths might cross there!

  3. Very unique and artistic letter opener. A pity we don’t use them as much as we once did. I have a hand carved Masai head letter opener that I treasure and wrote about on my Google+ site but it is a much simpler design than yours.

  4. This is a beautiful and elegant design and also primitive, the triangle shape for some reason reminds me of obsidian arrows in Mexico used by mesoamerican hunters and the holes in it make me feel like a stained glass artist forgot to place the glass. It is very nice and the place where the logo goes is very subtle and well finished. Very nice work!

  5. I like the concept of functional art. I believe William Morris said, “If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” Your blog is unique and lovely. I like combining the two elements in your travels. See my website,
